Special Diet

In August, 2011, I tested positive for allergies to wheat, bakers yeast, and egg whites. I was in the process of taking soy out of my diet due to my hypothyroidism. Under the advice of a naturopathic doctor, I began a detox of sorts, trying to support my liver, which has been ravaged by MS treatments. In January 2012, I tested positive for allergies to brewers yeast, whey (dairy), bananas, amaranth, and lima beans.

What I eat:
  • Chicken/poultry (preferably organic)
  • Meat (preferably organic)
  • Alternative milk (depending on the use: coconut, almond, rice; I think hemp is terrible)
  • Corn (chips, tortillas, but do try to stick to g/f options when available)
  • Vegetables (no limits)
  • Fruits (minimal cantaloupe or grapefruit)
  • Rice
  • Oatmeal (only g/f)
  • wine (in small amounts, preferably red)

What I don't eat:
  • Wheat (includes flour, related grains such as spelt, farina, couscous, rye, barley)
  • Products with "yeast" in the ingredient list (I may be overly cautious, but avoid all labels that include yeast extract--WTH is that?)
  • Eggs
  • Dairy (milk, cream, cheese, margarine)
  • Soy (tofu, soy sauce, soy lecithin, soy anything)
  • beer

What I haven't eaten in years anyway :)
  • High Fructose Corn Syrup
  • MSG
  • artificial sweeteners
  • soda

What I limit (for now?):
  • Salmon or other fish (preferably wild caught)
  • Shellfish
  • Sesame
  • Quinoa
  • Goat cheese

Products I like:
  • Bob's Red Mill g/f products (oats, buckwheat--it's not related to wheat, cornmeal, etc.)
  • Organic Pocono Cream of Buckwheat Cereal
  • Classico tomato basil marinara sauce and pizza sauce
  • Coconut Secret products (coconut aminos, etc.)
  • Drew's Rosemary Dressing
  • Earth Balance
    • coconut spread
    • Mindful Mayo (original or olive oil; NOT organic)
    • soy-free "butter" (contains corn, so not when cooking for my friend J)

  • Jarrow Rice Protein powder
  • NutriBiotic Rice Protein powder
  • Sahale Maple Pecans
  • Simply Organic Italian Dressing mix packets
  • So Delicious Coconut Milk
    • Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert (select flavors)
